Do you manage your PPC campaigns?

Posted on 12 April 2009 by KantonFC

Last few weeks, I started to start another pay per click campaign to test some waters. When I started the campaign, I didn’t look into it and only came back after few days. To my surprise, many of my keywords were given a “POOR” quality score. And most of them are the keywords that have a lot of impressions.

So if you want to start a PPC campaign, make sure you can keep an eye to every keyword especially to those keywords that receive many impressions.

Since I didn’t manage that campaign well, I didn’t notice that CTR for those keywords that have a lot of impressions doesn’t meet the minimum Adwords CTR and I have to pay extra to improve their ranking.

Lesson learned?

Keep an eye for every keyword you have in your campaign. If they are nearing the minimum CTR, do everything you can do to make it live. If you can’t do anything, try to pause those keywords; which I did for some of the keywords, until you are ready to observe them regularly.

I’ve only used PPC once and I have to admit I didnt even check the quality score!

I let it run to 100 clicks and then stopped it as the site I was sending people to didnt make a sale. I thought it was quite a good site but no sales out of 100 makes me think otherwise. Oh well…

I don’t manage any of my sites that I am using PPC on. I think if anything is going to happen with my advertisements, that it is going to mostly just come to me. I don’t think you should really try to do anything with it, just make it be extra.
